More March Madness !

During March, the whole school celebrated World Book Day on Thursday, 2nd March by dressing up as their favourite character in a nursery rhyme or storybook. Didn’t the children and their parents do a fantastic job once again!

Well done to everyone 🙂

In preparation for our Annual Book Fair, the school welcomed local author Martin Brennan and enjoyed learning about his stories as well as how to write a book from start to finish!

The children also designed their own book covers of their favourite stories as an extra activity to celebrate Book Week!

Over the past number of weeks, the children have thoroughly enjoyed participating in basketball lessons with Joe Byrne. A big thank you to Joe for all his enthusiasm each week and for teaching us new skills in basketball 🙂

First Class participated in a local Anti-Bullying Poster Competition and drew very meaningful pictures to discourage bullying in schools.

In SPHE, the children enjoyed talking about what makes their families special. In support of this, the children drew pictures to demonstrate what they treasure in their lives.

In Geography, the children explored the topic of jobs people do. The children enjoyed learning about different jobs and they also drew pictures of what they might like to be in the future!

March would not be March without all the preparations for St. Patrick’s Day! In Art, the children made their own Colourful Crocks of Gold!

First Class also enjoyed making their own shamrock badges as an extra work activity 🙂

In Maths, the children played a dice game in pairs called “St Patrick’s Day Roll and Cover”

The children went on a Spring Nature Walk in the Discovery Park to identify the physical features of Spring! They also enjoyed a short visit to the playground 🙂

In Art, they constructed their own Daffodil Pictures which has brought a little bit of Spring into our classroom! 🙂

During the month, we also celebrated Mothering Sunday! The children made their own beautiful bouquets to say thank you 🙂

Finally, towards the Easter Holidays, the children have been actively engaged in all sorts of Easter activities! They designed their own picture on the theme “Bible Leaders” for the Annual Bishop’s Poster Competition

They entered a local Easter Colouring Competition in Eurospar

and they made their own Easter Chicks to start the celebrations!

Well done on all your hard work over the past number of weeks. Happy Easter!
