Local Visits

The school is situated ideally to take full advantage of the Castlecomer Demesne and Discovery Park. This is a fantastic woodland park with a wonderful variety of nature species, including tadpoles, fish, birds and many different species of trees. Sometimes after a nature walk we play for a while in the “Timber Tumbles” playground situated beside the Discovery Park.

A few members of the Kilkenny team dropped in for a very short visit today, Thursday 8th September, at 2.45 pm.  They had a very busy day, visiting local schools with the Liam McCarthy cup!  Martin Fogarty, a selector for the team introduced the local heroes to us all.  We also got their autograph for all the boys and girls.  Well done Kilkenny, we are very proud of you!!!!

Trip to Library

Date posted: 5th March 2011 | Category Blog, Local Visits, School Outings |

First, second and third class visited the local library in Castlecomer on Wednesday.  The children listened to author Benji Bennett reading a story called “Adam saves Christmas!”

KCLR radio was there, interviewing Benji Bennett and the librarians about ‘Library Month’ and Sue Nunn asked the children some questions too so some of us got to talk on the radio.

We had a lovely day and Miss Dennehy treated us all to an ice-cream on the way back to school because we were all so good!

Carol Singing in Castlecomer Estate Yard

We all went carol singing in the Demense on 10th December. We sang many carols including ‘Away in a Manger’, Jingle Bells, Little Donkey, We wish you a Merry Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.  We sang them all twice.

Lots of mums, dads, grans, grandads and toddlers came to hear us sing.

The owners of Jarrow Cafe gave us squash and the adults tea and coffee. We all really enjoyed it.
