We discussed our journey to school and recorded three places we each pass on our journeys to school each day.

We have been busy in September and October in the Junior Classroom. Check out the photos below to see what we’ve been up to!
At the beginning of September we were working on skills such as cutting and using different materials to practice making lines, shapes and letter writing.

We had fun learning different Nursery Rhymes such as Baa, Baa Black Sheep and Humpty Dumpty. We practiced cutting skills and made art based on these rhymes.

In SESE we were busy learning all about ourselves, how we change as we grow up and Autumn, learning about hedgehogs, squirrels and the changes which happen in this season.

Also as part of SESE we read the book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and made maps of the journey they went on in the story.

We also had fun going on an Autumn Nature Walk to the Discovery Park. We spotted leaves changing colours to orange, yellow, red and brown, conkers, red berries and helicopter seeds from Sycamore trees.

We brought our clipboards and pencils with us and ticked off the signs of Autumn we spotted on our walk.

On the way back we had time to stop off at the playground!

When we got back we created a Nature Table of Autumn items.

Senior Infants were learning all about length in Maths and made chains which were long, longer and the blue was longest. They also played games to revise their numbers from last year.

We began learning through play and the Aistear Curriculum in October and our first topic we learned about was ‘The Vet.’ We read stories like ‘Bet the Vet’ and created different things to do with vets in areas such as junk art, play doh, small world and construction.

Finally in Art we made squirrels using crepe paper to create bushy tails, we also painted colourful Autumn trees using cotton buds to paint the leaves on as dots and finally painted spooky pumpkins for Halloween!

Finally on the last day of term we had a great day dressing up for Halloween ๐
