Our first 2 months back at school have been busy as always. The Senior classes have worked hard in all subject areas for both Ms. Wilson and their student teacher, Mrs. Meally.

Below are some photos of various activities!

At the start of September, the children engaged in Optical Illusion Activities in Art and Science and created their own Optical Illusion using their hands and the first initial of their name!

The children completed a traffic survey at our school gates and recorded their results onto Bar Graphs in Maths! On the day of the survey, silver was the most popular vehicle colour to pass through Castlecomer!

In Art, the children created their own Autumn Wreaths using leaves from our school environment.

On Friday, 8th October, the school supported Goal’s Jersey Day and we all enjoyed wearing our sports jerseys into school for the day!

In SPHE the children created their own Mandalas as a symbol of their own uniqueness and self identity. Didn’t they do a fantastic job?

Drawing a self portrait with a twist was another art activity the children engaged in!

Members of 6th Class helped plant some daffodil and tulip bulbs around our school and parish grounds.

In Religion, the children designed their own Harvest Picture for the Harvest Service in St. Mary’s Church on Sunday, 24th October.

The children designed their own Anti-Bullying Poster in response to all that they had learned on the topic of Bullying in SPHE.

To celebrate Kilkenny Day on Sunday, 10th October, the children very creatively designed their own Pangur Bán!

On Thursday, 21st October, the whole school visited the Community School and got to run or walk around the track for 2km to raise money for our school and to support Joyce in her efforts to raise money for both our school and the ICU in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny.

Well done to all the children for all their hard work at training in advance of the day as well as their great performance on the running track too!

The children donned their Hallowe’en costumes on the day of their Hallowe’en holidays. Well done to you all for such creative and scary costumes!

To get into the spirit of Halowe’en, the children played a game outdoors called Hallowe’en Run

and they engaged in some collaborative art to create some very funky looking pumpkins and spooky looking bats!!

Well done to 4th, 5th & 6th Class for all your great work over the past 2 months. Thank you to Mrs. Meally for all her hard work during October in the Senior Classroom. Enjoy your well deserved Mid Term Break! 🙂

Happy Hallowe’en to everybody!!
