On Saturday, 9th June 2012, the children, parents and almost 170 cyclists took to the roads for the annual sponsored cycle in aid of the school. It was a wonderful day! The sun was shining, music was playing and a great day was had by all!
The day started off with registration at 9 am. There were 3 routes to choose from: a 40 km route, a 100km route and a 125km route! The children cycled the famous 5km wellie race route with parents and teachers. Along the way were various food and drink stops to take a well-deserved break! When everyone came back, there was food, refreshments and ice-cream from the “Icicle Bicycle”!
Over €5,500 has been raised so far for the school. A huge thank you to everyone who helped out in any way. Thank you to the Parents’ Association for all their hard work over the past number of months! Thanks to all those who stewarded the roads, cycled with the children, baked, prepared food, drove cars, manned food/drink stops, registered names, supervised children, fundraised, donated money, donated food/water and cleaned up afterwards! We wish we could thank you all individually! A special thank you to our sponsors “Cycletrax” for being there on the day and their donation to the school.
Thank you to all those who participated on the day, especially those from local cycling clubs!
After completing the cycle, the children and other participants received a certificate for all their efforts on the day.
Well done everybody. We are looking forward to next year already!
I enjoyed cycling the route. I think I’m lucky to have caught up with the seniors. It was a great day. Will.
There was a wonderful atmosphere on the day and we were so so lucky with the good weather. Every year, it just keeps getting bigger and better – well done to all the organisers and helpers for another superb fundraising and fun event.

great day.still have pains in my legs from feeding the five thousand last saturday.lovely to see all parents involved one way or another on the day but also those who did work behind the scenes.an event as big as this dosnt all fall into place over night!
It was evident so much work had gone into it, especially as it is getting so much bigger. The food was superb. You’ll have to cycle next year Jackie 🙂 but speaking from experience, other areas of the body then hurt the following days 😉
Saturday was a lovely day for the whole school and the weather made it all the more memorable too! Well done to all involved and also to the children for their continued enthusiasm and participation in our annual cycle!
Saturday was such a brilliant day for everyone. Well done to all the people involved in organising another fantastic cycle, as was said it gets bigger and better each year! The atmosphere was great and it was lovely to see the children having such a fun and enjoyable day while fundraising for their school.
