Winter Weather Watch with the Juniors!

We’ve made a great start to 2020 in the Junior Room. In play we explored the topics of weather and the restaurant. We recorded the weather each day for 2 weeks and used equipment to measure the weather outside.

We made weather related junk art, presented the weather in role play, made weather with coloured blocks and created weather with play doh.

In the Restaurant we made our own tables and chairs to eat off in construction, role played in the restaurant, built restaurants in small world and made lots of restaurant things in junk art.

Creating menus
Making pizza and chocolate cake-yum!

In art we made rainy day scenes, winter snowmen and stormy scenes.

Daniel in the Lions’ Den as well as David and Goliath were the 2 stories we learned about from the Bible this month, we drew pictures of both.

Junior Infants learned all about length in Maths and we all created patterns based on the topic of the restaurant! Juniors also practiced recognising different numbers by building cube towers of different heights.

In SESE we discovered lots about toys and play. We matched toys to the places we play with them and found out about some toys used long ago.

Most children knew the story of Little Red Riding Hood in English but we really enjoyed listening to it as Gaeilge!

All in all another great months work by the girls and boys in the Junior Room- Well done!!
