We’ve started school!

September has been a busy month for us all as we settle back to school again!

The Junior Classroom  welcomed 7 Junior Infants who have settled in very well to life at “Big School!”

Our Senior Infants have settled very well into their new class too!

During the month, the children have had fun getting to know each other and also doing new things together!

In Art, the children designed their own Rainbow Fish in response to the story we read.

In support of Kilkenny competing in the All Ireland Hurling Final, the children designed their own Kilkenny cat!

Come on the Cats!!!

We have been learning many letters in English this month. For the letter “a” the children painted and cut out their own apple for our nice Autumn Display!

We used a cotton bud instead of a brush to paint the leaves on our apples! The children also enjoyed tasting Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady and Royal Gala apples

This year Ms. Wilson has chosen to name the groups in her classroom, Pirates and Princesses. The children designed their own masks for their group.

Can you figure out the pirates and princesses?

In S.E.S.E, the children have been learning lots of interesting facts about hedgehogs. Take a look at the clay hedgehogs the children made below!

Did you know that a baby hedgehog is called a hoglet and that hoglets are white when they are born?

In Music, the children have been learning many different nursery rhymes. They particularly enjoyed singing Humpty Dumpty so we made our own “Humpty Dumptys with Hairstyles!”

Towards the end of the month, the children enjoyed baking their own Chocolate Chip and Smartie Cookies. Everybody had a job to do on the day and the end result was very tasty indeed!!

We used butter…

brown sugar….

flour, baking powder and eggs….

vanilla essence…

and of course chocolate chips and smarties!!!

We made them into small balls and placed them in the oven!

We had to eat them up and hide them from the Cookie Monster!!

Well done to all the children on a great month’s work!
