Welcome back to the Junior Room

We were delighted to get back into the classroom for the month of March and we’ve been busy completing lots of work for the month. For Mother’s Day we made fingerprint poems for our mums.

We celebrated St Patrick’s Day by making Leprechauns and we also practiced our cutting skills by snipping out some St Patrick’s Day pictures.

In SESE we learned the story of The Ugly Duckling. We drew pictures of where the story took place, who was in it and what happened.

Also in SESE we had fun learning about the season of Spring. We went on a nature walk to the river and spotted some signs of Spring, buds on the trees, birds collecting twigs for nests and primroses growing in the woods.

We drew pictures from our walk of what we saw, heard, smelled and our favourite part of the walk.

We are hoping to have lots of colour in our school grounds by summer as we planted sunflower seeds!

In Music we listened to and learned about Irish musical instruments including the tin whistle, Uilleann Pipes and fiddle. We listened to reels and jigs and discussed how fast the music was.

Finally in Art we made Spring Chicks which look lovely and bright on our classroom wall.
