Summer Term in the Senior Room

It has as always been another busy and productive term in the Senior Room. As the end of another school year approaches here are some of the things we have been studying and learning about.

In Art we made pretty Cherry Blossom Trees from tissue paper. We also created a Minibeast Scene and framed it.

After travelling to Dunmore East for our school tour we used the theme of the sea for another art lesson and created these picture frames using shells.

While studying Science we learned all about the Space and in our groups we made a Solar System.

We have also been learning about temperature, materials and rocks and soils. We did lots of experiments  including one to see how heat travels through air. The heat rising from the radiator moved the snakes! This is called convection!

We also looked at various types of soil and the layers that are found in soil.

6th Class were busy in Maths studying co-ordinates and designed their own town on a grid plotting the co-ordinates of different landmarks.

4th Class also completed lots of work making tessellating shapes and discussing and recording ‘chance’ outcomes.

In Music we listened to a song from the musical ‘West Side Story’ and designed these posters to advertise the musical.

In English 5th and 6th Class read all about the platypus and drew and labelled a diagram of one. We discovered that they are very unusual creatures!

Lovely to see these as otherwise I wouldn’t hear anything 😉

Hard to believe there’s only a few days left. Sounds like sports day today was great fun.
