Summer Activities in 4th, 5th & 6th!

During May and June, the Senior Classroom were busy in all subject areas.

The children completed Class Projects on various topics of interest and enjoyed researching their topics on the school computers and Ipads!

In Art, the children completed many colourful projects! They drew some One Point Perspective Pictures.

They explored the technique of Pointillism which is painting in small spots to form an image.

They used watercolour paints to create Super Seahorses!

They also engaged in some Summer Still Life Drawings this term.

The children learned about life in the 1960s in History and made their own “Flower Power” Display to accompany the topic.

World War 1 was another topic that was covered in the SESE subject areas.

We designed a poster to advertise Dunmore East Adventure Centre following our school tour in May!

In preparation for our School’s Sponsored Cycle, we designed our own Cycling Helmets in SPHE

We explored Water Safety in preparation for swimming & our Summer Holidays!

In Music, we listened to Fossils by Camille Saint Saens and the children drew pictures in response to what the music portrayed to them

Father’s Day was also celebrated in June, so we made our own Father’s Day Card and Craft to show our father figures how important they are in our lives.

Following our Sponsored Cycle, we did some Recount Writing in Literacy describing some of our favourite memories fron the day 🙂

We put our culinary skills to the test by making some Butterscotch Chocolate Chup Cookies!

We finished our Class Novel, I am David by Anne Holm and wrote a Character Profile on a character which appealed to us most in the novel.

We were delighted to receive some letters and postcards back from our favourite authors who we wrote to before Easter. David Walliams, Roddy Doyle & JK Rowling

To celebrate the end of a very busy year, the children enjoyed an ice cream treat during the last week of school!

Well done to all the children for a great term’s work. You should be very proud of yourselves 🙂
