Science Experiments

4th, 5th and 6th Class have been looking at heat and light in science. We discovered that white light can be split into seven colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. We shone a torch through a glass prism and saw this happening.

We also looked at heat and discovered that heat travels in different ways, by convection, conduction and radiation. We made colourful spiral snakes and hung them over a radiator. When the radiator is on the heat causes the snakes to move! This shows heat moving through the air by convection.

  2. Love the spiral snakes. Great way to learn about heat convection.

Thank you for the lovely comments! We had great fun making the snakes and the children look at them each day to see them swirling around!
