Senior Classroom start September with a bang!

September has been a busy month with new classes, new classrooms and new teachers! The children in the Senior Classroom have put in great work this month. They made their own name plates in SPHE to celebrate their uniqueness!

In Art, the children had to create their own “Starburst Hearts” by drawing 12 lines from a point and using warm and cool colours. They did a great job and they really brightened up our room during the first week back at school!

The children also showed their creativity in Art by expanding a given picture to create their own imaginative scene.

In SESE, the children made their own “Class Passports” which contain details about them such as their likes and dislikes, their role models, as well as places they might like to visit some day!

The children learned a poem  in English called New Beginnings by Helen Steiner Rice and they drew pictures to illustrate the content of the poem

In Music, the children learned the song “My Favourite Things” from the Sound of Music and created a simple factfile of their favourite things!

The school has started rugby once again this year with Youth Development Officer, Noel Devlin.

In History, the children have been learning about The Celts. They enjoyed learning about ogham writing as well as the detail they put into their work. The Book of Kells is an example of their work. The children enjoyed colouring in some templates from the Book of Kells to show the type of detail they gave to their work.

Finally, the children enjoyed learning about town planning in Geography. They became town planners and designed and named their own town too!

Well done Senior Pupils on a great start to a new school year!
