November News in the Middle Room!

Winter is certainly here and the children have had a busy month in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class!  In Literacy, the children wrote their own shape poems about Winter.  They used snowmen and snowflake templates to create their wintery poems!

In History, we learned about the Totem Pole and the significance of the carvings on beautiful structures.  The children then created their own Totem Poles for all to see!

In Geography, we discussed various occupations and the children spoke about what they would like to do when they are older!  Some want to be doctors, vets and even movie stars!  Watch this space!

In Visual Arts, we learned about warm and cool colours on the spectrum.  The children then created their own “Leaping Lizards” using their choice of warm and cool colours….

We also created “Aliens and Robots” through the medium of collage.  Aren’t there some interesting creations on display?!

We also learned about the famous French Artist Henri Matisse and then re-created our own abstract art.

We also looked at types of houses and homes around the world.  We came to the conclusion that we are all very lucky to have the lovely homes that we do have!

And finally, well done to the 4th Class pupils who visited our classroom on Monday, 30th November to read out stories from the books that they wrote themselves!  They did a wonderful job!  Here is a picture of a few of their creations!  Well done 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class on a great month’s work!
