November News from the Junior Room

November has flown by in the Junior Room and once again we have been busy learning lots of new things across the curriculum!

At the start of the month we had a virtual visit from Marina Levitina through the Heritage in Schools Scheme. She taught us lots of information about native Irish plants and flowers and we did an art lesson with her where she showed us how to draw a Meadow Sweet flower.

In SESE and Music this month we learned all about musical instruments from around the world, including the tin whistle from Ireland, castanets from Spain, bagpipes from Scotland, drums from Africa and the digeridoo from Australia! We listened to all these instruments and then played some percussion instruments in Music class.

We also listened to some classical music by Mozart and learned some facts about him.

In Gaeilge we learned all about Bia this month and made our own Bosca Lón with ceapairí, bainne, uisce, banana, úll, iógart agus piorra!

Finally in Maths we were learning about 2D shapes and made these shape monsters with Ms Delaney who was with us on Teaching Practice for the month.
