November in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class!

November has been a busy month for the boys and girls in 1st, 2nd and 3rd class!  In Art we looked at the works of Henri Matisse, a French Artist born in 1869.  His art is very abstract and when we were “looking and responding” to various works of his, the children saw different things from the same picture.  We then created our own abstract art, like Henri.  Have a look!

In English and Religion we listened to a story about “The Sea”.  The children then drew images that came to mind when they heard the story.  Each picture is unique…

To continue with the theme of water and the sea, the children created their own fish based on the techniques of pointillism. Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of pure colour are applied in patterns to form an image.  They were given the fish template and did the rest of the work themselves!

In SPHE, we looked and talked about various feelings and emotions that we may experience.  In pairs, the children had to represent a certain feeling with the correct facial expression…

We hope you enjoyed looking at our work!
