A different kind of Maths Lesson!

During the month of March, 3rd class children were learning about weight and capacity in their Maths lesson.  On one of the pages, there were questions based on “Emma’s Kitchen” and part of the activity included following a recipe to make Queen Cakes, so that’s exactly what we did!

The children weighed out the ingredients using a scale, mixed it up and put the mixture into bun cases…

Of course, the 2nd class helped to eat the finished product, along with the 3rd class!

Great way to learn isn’t it – by doing. I presume we should be using metric at home instead of imperial when baking with them so as not to cause confusion – I still use pounds and ounces!
