Happy Halloween from the Junior Classroom!

October has once again been a busy month! We started off the month making Floppy Scarecrows in small groups, in response to a poem called “The Floppy Floppy Scarecrow” in English!

In SPHE, the children have been learning all about themselves. They made their own identity card with their own photograph, handprint and fingerprint!

In the SESE subject areas, the children enjoyed participating in a hands-on workshop based on Rocks and Soil with the heritage expert,  Una Halpin. During the workshop, the children explored various rocks and also the types of rocks we have around the school environment.

The children also enjoyed all of the preparations for Halloween from eating the “bairín breac” in Gaeilge…

dressing up in their Halloween costumes …

playing a Halloween Maths Game called “Spider Drive” with their partner…

and making their own “Marvellous Monsters”.

Finally in Art, the children made their own “Patterned Pumpkins” using printing wands.

Didn’t they do a great job!

Happy Halloween Everybody!!
