Bring on the Summer!

Summer is here at last and during the month of May, the children in the Junior Classroom have been busy in all subject areas.

In SPHE, the children drew pictures of what their “Senses” look forward to in the Summer!

The taste of ice cream was a definite favourite!!

We have also been learning about the Life Cycle of the Frog in Science!

Did you know that male frogs are the only frogs that sing!!

In Art, the children listened and responded to the work of Vincent Van Gogh. They drew their own copy of his painting “Sunflowers” using oil pastels.

Haven’t we some budding artists in our school!

We also spent some time looking at patterns and colours on flags from around the world in Geography this month. The children coloured in a flag from a country as well as a picture of a person wearing the traditional clothing from their country.

Finally in Maths, the children made their own Busy Bees in response to a number poem we have been learning called “5 Busy Bees”.

We all helped out printing the hive with yellow paint and bubble wrap for a real honeycomb effect!

Well done everybody for being busy little bees this month again!!
