A busy start to 2013 for the Senior Classes!

4th, 5th and 6th class have been very busy since we came back in January. Below is some of the work we have completed in different subject areas.

In art we have been concentrating on sewing. We have learned how to sew lots of different stitches, here are just a few samples!

In English class we have been writing poetry and examining different types of poems. We wrote Acrostic poems on the topics of ‘January’ and ‘Winter’ and Limericks, which are funny, rhyming poems. Here are the Acrostic poems we wrote on display.

In Irish class we read a story called ‘Lá i mo Shaol’. 5th and 6th class then listened to instructions in Irish and drew their own ‘Lá i mo Shaol’ pictures.

In science we learned how water travels through a plant. To see this in action we put food colouring in water and put celery stalks in it. After a few days we could see the plant had soaked up the coloured water. We then wrote up our findings.

Great sewing Senior Room! It’s lovely to see all the different stitches on display. I always enjoyed needlework when I was in Primary School. Keep up the great work!

Well done Seniors! I think your sewing looks really great on the walls and I especially like your acrostic poetry. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the poems in print in our “We are Writers” books!
