Music is taught by the class teacher. The children have the opportunity to learn the piano and guitar from 1st class onwards if they wish. Every second year, we have a group called the “Funky Kids Workshop” in our school to help us put on a wonderful show. Denis and Olivia from the Funky Kids group teach us songs, dances and we then perform them at a Christmas Show for parents and the school community. We also record the show on DVD for parents to purchase! Each week in Assembly, we sing a song and once a year, we attend a Children’s Choral Festival with the other schools in the Diocese.
April has been a short month however the Junior Classroom have covered a lot of new and exciting topics! To begin with they have been busy learning about “Frogs”. In Assembly with Mr. Boland, the children sang a song with percussion to the whole school about “Twenty Froggies”. They all did a great job so well done…
In art we have created lots of beautiful work in January and February. We designed wonderful stained glass windows. We used tin foil, tracing paper and glitter to create these frosty winter branches. In music we listened to The Snow is Dancing by Debussy and drew these pictures, inspired by the music.
2nd and 3rd Class boys and girls have been very busy for the past few weeks decorating the classroom, writing stories and having fun as Christmas approaches!
