Sports’ Day 2014!

On Thursday 19th June, we had our annual sports’ day in Wandesforde National School!  The weather was fantastic and all the children enjoyed the day.  Each year, we focus on having fun and we encourage the children to enjoy the day as much as possible.  We have 5 races and the children are divided into Junior and Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd Class, 3rd and 4th Class and 5th and 6th Class for the races!

Have a look at some of the photos from the day!  First up were the races!  We had sprints and hurdles…..

Next was the egg and spoon races…   Steady hands boys and girls!

The sack race was the next challenge!

The best and funniest race was the 3-legged race, where children had to work together to get to the end….!

The children enjoyed the day with their friends…

In the afternoon, all the children received a medal for their efforts on Sports’ Day.  We also had our prize-giving for great attendance during the year and gave out the swimming certificates!

A boy and a girl from each classroom were also awarded a trophy for being an all round great sportsperson, showing fairness at playtime and being a great team-player.  Well done boys and girls!
