A Special Day in Wandesforde NS!

On Monday, 18th January, the pupils, staff, parents and local councillors were delighted to welcome members of the Defence Forces to the school with a special delivery of the National Flag!  Sergeant Ciaran Kennedy and Private John Flynn spoke about the flag, the events that happened in April 1916 and then read a small part of the Proclamation to the school.  A Senior pupil then read out paragraph 4 of the Proclamation which mentions about children.  We were then presented with the flag and a special pack with our own copy of the Proclamation.  Our challenge now is to create our own Proclamation, which we must read out to the school community on 15th March, 2016, when all schools in Ireland will raise the National Flag together!

We had to have some delicious cake to celebrate this special day!  Huge thanks to Ms. Power’s Mum for making this yummy cake!  Thanks to all the parents and especially the Parents’ Association for their help and treats on the day!

We hope to see you all on the 15th March when we will officially raise our National Flag!
