Our Sponsored Cycle and Green Flag Ceremony 2011
On Saturday, 11th June 2011, the children of Wandesforde NS, Castlecomer, took part in a sponsored cycle and walk around the famous wellie race route! Adults from Kilkenny and other parts of the province, had the choice of cycling 2 routes, a 100km route or a 30km route. Approximately 85 people cycled on the day, making this annual event a huge success! Here are some photos of the day. Everyone really enjoyed themselves!

We then had our 2nd Green Flag Raising Ceremony! Ms. Power said a few words and then, the youngest and oldest children raised the flag for all to see! Well done to Ms. Power and the Green School’s Committee for all their work on the “Energy Flag”.
We really enjoyed the chips after all the cycling!

It was a lovely day – a great atmosphere and we were so lucky with the weather. Lots of lovely photos here too.
Well done to all. A wonderful day. I was talking to 2 of the 100k cyclists on Monday. They enjoyed the route and were saying that the food for when they got back was fab. They would usually only have tea and sandwiches but they said the salads were brilliant. I think both of them will be back next year for the cycle again. Well done to all.
