Spring has Sprung in the Senior Room!

Another month has come and gone and the pupils in the senior room have been busy!

In art we made St Patrick’s Day shamrocks and painted them using different items to create various textures.

We also made Easter chicks and rabbits from clay.

For Mother’s Day we sewed the word ‘Mum’ and framed them for our mums.

In maths 6th class created 3D shapes while 4th class concentrated on 2D shapes and created different tessellations of shapes.

Spring is well and truly here and we wrote Spring acrostic poems in English. We also composed our own limericks about St Patrick’s Day.

In Gaeilge 5th & 6th class made books based on the topic ‘An t-Earrach’ and 4th wrote up information about the season.

In geography we have enjoyed learning all about rivers and the coastline. Here are the diagrams of rivers we labelled. We also learned all about the wildlife which lives in and around Irish rivers.

Celebrations are well underway to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. In the senior room we have learned lots about this topic lately. We also had great fun learning all about the Rising in a workshop by Pat Moylan.

We learned lots about healthy eating in SPHE and made our own Food Pyramids and labelled daily recommended portions in each food group.

We greatly enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day, the costumes were very inventive and a lot of work went into them!

Enjoy the Easter break everyone! 🙂
