Some sun & plenty of fun in 5th & 6th Class!

Wow! What a busy and fun few weeks we’ve had in the Senior Room. We went on our annual school tour to Dunmore East Adventure Centre and a great time was had by all!

That’s 13 meters high!

We looked in detail at the Irish coast in Geography, labelling islands and headlands and in Science we studied various sea creatures found in Irish waters.

Also in Geography we learned lots about China and created these maps surrounded by pictures and factual information about this interesting country.

We also learned lots about food chains in Science and created our own food chains as well as filling in some information sheets based on this topic.

Continuing on the aquatic theme we read about the platypus in English and drew and labelled this fascinating animal which seems to be a mixture of lots of different creatures!

We read about the Conger Eel too and created Encyclopedia Pages based on this sea creature.

In Art we also took inspiration from the sea to create tropical fish scenes and colourful sun catchers.

We also used our knowledge of lines to create colourful spiral designs and drew suns using straight and curved lines.

With Summer in mind we created bright, colourful butterflies in flight.

Capacity and Co-Ordinates are two of the topics we’ve learned about in Maths recently. 5th Class labelled capacity containers and 6th Class drew pictures from co-ordinates.

In SPHE we learned all about Road Safety and designed these posters based on this important subject.
