On Saturday, 7th June 2014, our school hosted the annual sponsored cycle. It started off as a pretty dull, cloudy morning but thankfully, later in the day the sun was shining!
Registration started around 8 am and people had the opportunity to have a cuppa and a chat before they set off on the various cycle routes, ranging from 5 km for the children to 125 km for the adults!
The children then had plenty of opportunities to practise their cycling skills on a simple course set up by Stephen Kerr. This was a huge hit with the boys and girls!
It was soon time for the cyclists to set off on their long cycle with options for all abilities including a 40 km route, a 100 km route and a 125 km route also!
The school children were next to take off on their 5 km cycle around the wellie race route…a few tough hills ahead of them!
But we all got back to school safely….
As always, there was a wonderful spread for us all when we returned to school…

Thank you so much to everyone who made this year’s cycle a huge success. A special thank you to the Parents’ Association for their planning and work over the past number of months! To all the children for their hard efforts in fundraising, to all who registered, stewarded, prepared food, served food, supervised, drove cars, tidied up and supported us in anyway, Thank You So Much!!!!! Over €5,800 has been raised for our school. See you next year!
We loved all the different things to do on the day, especially the obstacle course!..And the food was so delicious, thank you!
We were so lucky with the weather! yet again. I thoroughly enjoyed the cycle and the kids really enjoyed the day too. The obstacle course was great. Food was scrumptious. A great day. Well done to all the organisers.
