Winter is here and the Senior Classroom have been busy in all subject areas!
Throughout the month of November, all children had to present an oral book review to their class. They did a fantastic job in their presentations! Well done Seniors 🙂
We are reading the Class Novel, Holes by Louis Sachar which the children are really enjoying. They completed a Character Analysis Pyramid as well as a Predictive Exercise on the story.
In SESE, the children have been learning about the Celts and Early Christian Ireland. They designed their own Celtic Crosses in response to what they had learned and they also wrote a diary entry for a Day in a Life of an Irish Monk!
The children continue to enjoy Rugby with Noel Devlin each Friday. They engaged in Tug Of War too to further enhance their strength and skills!!
Our School’s Debate Team were successful in the First Knock Out Round of the Concern Primary School’s Debating Competition. They travelled to Kilkenny Education Centre in November to oppose the motion that “Mobile Phones should be banned for all Primary School Pupils”. Well done and congratulations to you all on a great achievement! In January they will meet Scoil Bhríde, Paulstown for the Second Knock Out Round of the competition and they are opposing the motion that “World Hunger will be Eliminated by 2030” Best of Luck to you all in your preparation for this debate 🙂
The children engaged in a small group activity in Art whereby they had to create their own Thanksgiving Turkey using a multitude of materials from our art cupboard!!
They also did Still Life Drawings of a Harvest Basket full of fruit and vegetables. Didn’t they do a fantastic job!
Finally, in preparation for 2D Shape in Maths in December, the children created their own colourful shape picture by overlapping various 2D shapes!
Well done to all the children on a great month’s work. 🙂
