Merry Christmas Everyone!

The boys and girls in 2nd, 3rd and 4th class have had such a busy few weeks during the months of November and December. After returning from our mid-term break, we wrote about what we got up to..

In History, we learned about Ancient Egypt, the Pharaohs, the Great Pyramids of Giza and Tutankhamun. We worked in pairs to create a display on all the interesting facts that we learned…

In Visual Arts, we designed our own masks using metallic colours….

In Science, we learned about materials and how some are transparent, translucent and opaque…

In English, we are reading the novel “The Witches” by Roald Dahl. Did you know there are 6 tell-tale signs to spot a witch? Read the following and make sure you make a note of them!!!! The children drew their interpretation of a witch!

In Art, we also looked at the life and work of Pablo Picasso. The children created their own Picasso inspired Art!

We also looked at the strand of “Fabric & Fibre” and learned how to weave…

We learned about Advent and how it is a time of preparation…We made Advent Wreaths and discussed the symbolism of the candles that are placed on the wreaths as we approach Christmas Day.

We made Christingles in Religious Education. Did you know that each part of the Christingle represents something? The children enjoyed making them and eating the sweets too!

We made Christmas cards for our friends and families…

The children learned about the Birth of Jesus and depicted the story in a stable scene.

In Gaeilge, the children learned the vocabulary based on the theme of “An Nollaig” and drew pictures of the story..

We made Christmas decorations using air-drying clay and paint…

Mrs. Kenny showed the children how to create very cool and fashionable reindeer, some decorated with lights and baubles! Don’t they look great?!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and the best for 2021! From 2nd, 3rd and 4th class:)
