May and June in the Middle Room!

It has been a busy few weeks in 2nd , 3rd and 4th Class and the children have put in a great term’s work!  In English, we wrote about our sponsored cycle on the 10th June…

We studied a poem called “Monsters in Pyjamas” and looked at the verbs, adjectives and nouns in the poem.  The children had great fun creating their own colourful monsters!

The 3rd Class pupils wrote postcards to their friends….

In Geography and Science, we studied soil and learned about the various types in Ireland.  We learned that there is a mixture of clay and loam in Ireland.  We looked at a soil sample from our school garden and concluded that it was clay.  We felt the texture and measured the moisture in it too.  We also found a wriggly creature in it, the earthworm, which is the farmer’s friend!

In Geography, we studied animals of the rainforest.  Each child completed a mini project on an animal of their choice.  We learned lots about this beautiful natural resource, but also learned that it is in danger due to trees being cut down on a daily basis.

In Visual Arts, we drew pictures using pastels…

We created colourful Summer t-shirts!

We drew some pictures of everyday objects or still life…

We created cool characters going surfing!

As a fun activity, we made oreo and banana milkshakes to cool us all down in this hot weather!

We hope you all have a wonderful Summer break!  Well done to all the boys and girls on their hard work this year!
