Happy Christmas from the Junior Classroom!

The past couple of weeks has been busy once again! During November, the Junior Classroom attended a Science Workshop in the Library on the theme of flight. The children really enjoyed the presentation and made their own very colourful kites too!

During the month, First Class were very busy assembling some board games and learning how to follow diagrams & instructions!

They also worked imaginatively to create some Leaf People! They even gave their leaf character a name!

In SPHE, the children listened to the story of “The Rainbow Fish” and in response designed their own rainbow fish by making prints using celery sticks!

The children also participated in a DogsTrust workshop where they learned how to behave around dogs as well as how to look after dogs.

Heather from Dogs Trust left some pictures for the children to colour. Didn’t they do a great job!

They also enjoyed listening to stories created by pupils in 6th Class.

In SESE, the children enjoyed participating in a workshop on printmaking by Heritage Expert, Orla Bates. They printed various species of birds using ink and lino prints!

We displayed our printed birds on the Class Christmas Tree!

In preparation for Christmas, the children donned their Santa Hats and visited the Discovery Park to meet Santa and Mrs Claus as well as sing some festive carols!

This year the school was invited to participate in designing & painting colourful soldiers for Yulefest, Kilkenny. The Junior Classroom painted a girl soldier which was on display in the Design Centre during the festival.

In preparation for Christmas, the children made their own Colourful Christmas Clay Magnets!

The children practised their paper cutting & paper folding skills while making their own 3D Christmas Candles and Christmas Bells!

The children also posted their letters to Santa!

Finally, in Religion, the children learned all the names for Jesus in the Bible and displayed them on the Christmas Tree!

Well done to all the children for all their hard work in the lead up to Christmas. Have a wonderful Christmas break and we’ll see you all in the 2017!!
