Autumn in the Middle Room!
A warm welcome back from the pupils in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class. It has been a very busy few weeks and the children have settled in very well for the first part of the term and have been working hard in all subject areas! In English, the children wrote about their Summer holidays and they certainly did lots of exciting things!
In Religious Education, we have been discussing “Harvest Time” and we drew pictures to thank God for all the wonderful things we have on this earth at this plentiful time of year.
In SPHE we have been following the “Zippy’s Friends” programme which encourages children to deal with challenges in their lives. Zippy is a stick insect and we read stories about him and the children he lives with. We then discuss what to do in various situations.
In Visual Arts, we made jigsaws with each piece depicting a part of our lives, such as our family, friends, school and hobbies!
We also drew self-portraits of ourselves!
In Science and Geography, we have been learning all about hibernation, migration and interesting facts about animals.
To support this work, we went on a nature walk to the Discovery Park, where the children had to identify various leaves, berries and nuts! We had a great time!
And finally, in Maths, we were learning about 2D shapes. To consolidate this work, we made “Over-lapping Shape Pictures” in Art. Well done on great work this Autumn boys and girls!
