April Activities in the Junior Classroom!
This April, the Junior Classroom have been learning a lot of new topics in all subject areas. In Gaeilge, the children have been “ag siopadóireacht sa siopa bia.” The children have learned how to converse in Irish when buying food in a shop. Take a look at all their practice!
In Science, the children planted their very own sunflower seeds and they also conducted an experiment showing that seeds need light, soil and water in order to grow properly.
Very soon, the children will be bringing home their sunflower seedlings which they will need to plant in a flowerbed at home.
In Art, the children made their own “Jumping Frogs” out of paper plates.
The children have been learning about 2D shapes in Maths and to support all their work, they designed their own “Shapely Robots” with shape stencils!!
In SPHE, the children engaged in many activities to explore “Our 5 Senses.”
One of the more enjoyable activities was the tasting session of food to establish where we taste them on our tongues. We tasted lemon (bitter-back of tongue), jelly tots (sweet-tip of tongue), natural yoghurt (sour-sides at the back) and salty crisps (salt-sides at the front).
The children also drew their favourite things to hear, see, smell, touch and of course taste!!
In History, the children have been learning about different types of homes. They designed a poster of their house for our Wandesforde Estate Agent Display!
Finally in English, we have been revising many letters. For the letter “p” , we wrote our own “Party Invitations” to one of our friends!
Well done to all the children on their continuing enthusiasm and hard work this month!
