A Christmas and Winter Wonderland in the Middle Room!

What a busy November and December it has been in the middle room! The children have been so busy! On 4th November, we welcomed Heritage Expert and Archaeologist Frankie Callaghan to our school to explore History with the children. Frankie brought a huge range of artefacts and historical craft pieces for the children to see and hold! They had so much fun!

After Frankie’s visit, the children designed their own family crests…

In SESE, we discussed people who help us and drew pictures of what we would like to do when we grow up!

In Visual Arts, we learned all about the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh and the chidren did a wonderful job painting their own version of “Sunflowers” and “Starry Night”.

We discussed the season of Winter, the Winter crops that are being sown at this time of year and then we made “Scarecrows” using fabric and fibre. Don’t they look great?

We created pictures using magazine cutouts of things and toys we like to play with….

The children created their own “Noughts and Crosses” game…

We did some mindful colouring….

In Maths, the second class pupils were learning about symmetry…

In English, we read a book called “Brush – A Tale of Two Foxes” by Pierce Feireatar. The children really enjoyed this Christmas story and reviewed the book, describing the setting, plot, characters and also scored it. Most gave it 10 out of 10!

In preparation for Christmas, the children wrote letters to Santa and went to the local post office to post them…

We got a letter back from Santa too!!!

We filled our classroom with lots of Christmas art and decorations for our homes…

On Tuesday, 21st December, we enjoyed hot chocolate in our classrooms. Thank you Mrs. Dooley and Mrs. Power for organising this lovely treat!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the pupils in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class! See you all in 2022!

More gorgeous artwork – I love it all, especially the beautiful baubles and what handsome scarecrows!! What another creative group you are. I only wish school had been half as much fun when I was your age! I hope you realize how very fortunate you are.

Well done Middle Room on all the wonderful work you’ve completed last term. I really love the trees you made in art 🙂
