A Busy January in the Middle Room!

Happy New Year to you all from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class!  We have been learning about lots of new and exciting things since we came back after the Christmas break!  To develop the children’s literacy skills, they all wrote reports about their holidays!

We also enjoyed reading the book “The Magic Faraway Tree” by Enid Blyton.  It took us a few months to get through it, but it was well worth the wait.  The children wrote book reports and scored the book out of ten.  Many gave it ten out of ten!

In Music, our theme for the month was “Toys”.  To support this work we listened  and responded to a piece of music called “The Toy Symphony” by Franz Joseph Haydn.

We also created our own musical instruments using items from our homes and recyclable things!  Didn’t the children do a wonderful job?  They all make noise too!

In Gaeilge, we have been learning about “Ócáidí Speisialta” or “Special Occasions”.  We created our own invitations to a “cóisir” or “party”!

In Geography we have been learning all about the characteristics of Winter, which we hope has passed now for another few months!

We also learned about “The Water Cycle” and drew our own simple water cycles to consolidate this objective.

Well done on a great month’s work boys and girls!

What wonderful work, thankfully you put this up as very little if any gets spoken about at home, but the sense of pride is huge when I show this incredible effort to my boy!
