A Busy Build Up to Easter in the Middle Room!

We have had a very busy few weeks in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class in our school!  To celebrate Mothering Sunday on 31st March, the children created bouquets for a special lady in their lives…

We also created treat boxes with some roses inside!  We hope they made it home!

In SPHE we learned all about fire safety in the home.  We were delighted to have members of the Kilkenny Fire and Rescue Service with us to talk about how we can all stay extra safe in our homes.

In Maths, the 3rd class were learning all about shapes that tessellate.  They coloured in some impressive designs to illustrate this concept.

In SESE, we discussed our 5 senses and wrote poems in English to show that Spring can be experienced in a sensory way!

We also read a story called “The Willow Pattern” by Alan Drummond. It is a story about Koong Shee and Chang, who fell in love but could never be together because of a wicked merchant.  Their story is depicted on the Willow Pattern plates in many of our houses.  Have a look and see if you can see a pagoda, a boat and two turtle doves on your bowls or plates at home!  We then created our own Willow Pattern plates using blue paint…

In SESE, we talked about the many people in our community who help us.  We each wrote about one person and drew their picture….

In Religion, we read “The Easter Story” and sequenced the events on the wall, surrounded by palm leaves which were waved along the streets of Jerusalem as Jesus entered on a donkey…

We also wrote Easter Acrostic Poems in English…

We designed very cool Easter Eggs!

And finally, we created Easter Wreaths using lots of colourful paper!

We hope you all are having a restful break and enjoying this lovely time of year!
