On Tuesday, 28th March, a local historian, Michael Moylan visited Junior & Senior Infants as part of Book Week in the school. The children were told many stories, most notably, the story of Cúchulainn. The opportunity to dress up in costume from various historical eras was a highlight of the day for the children!
The boys dressed up as soldiers and pirates!
The girls were dressed as ladies in beautiful dresses and of course hats!
The children really enjoyed this interactive history workshop of storytelling and costume. Here are more photos to show off their costumes!
An Irish soldier!
A Japanese Princess!
A Pirate!
At the end of the session, the children were allowed to wear their costumes back to their classroom for the rest of the Infant Day! This was a real treat and the costumes really made a difference to how hard the children worked! It was great fun and definitely something the children would love to do again!

During Book Week, we had an In-School Art Competition on the theme of books. There were 2 winners picked from each classroom who got to choose a free book from the Book Fair.
The winners from Ms. Power’s Classroom were Georgia McCordick & Rebecca Ward. Here are the book covers they designed!
There were 2 winners in Ms. Dennehy’s Classroom too! They were Will James & Rebecca Neale who drew pictures of their favourite character.
Junior & Senior Infants drew their favourite character and the winning entries were Savannah McCordick & Adam Byrnes.
Well done to all the children who entered! The standard of artwork was very high and picking the winners wasn’t easy for the teachers!
Here are the displays of each classroom’s entries into the competition!

Making spring daffodils in the Middle Classroom
With spring slow to arrive with snow and frost forecast, the Middle classroom decided to make their own daffodils and create their own bright springlike display. Using paints and egg cartons, they painted the egg carton shapes and stuck them to their paintings which were prepared earlier.
