Autumn arrives in the Senior Room

September has been a productive month for 5th and 6th class. Take a look and see what we’ve been learning about.

In Gaeilge we designed our own unique hand print and wrote all about ourselves around it in Irish.

We also wrote acrostic poems in Irish using ‘An Fómhar’ as our theme.

In Geography we have been learning all about the mountains and rivers of Ireland.

Ancient China was a topic we learned lots about in History, especially the Han and Qin Dynasties. We wrote diary entries from a child’s point of view living during both of these dynasties.

In Art we created individually designed names with wax pastels and inspired by the changing seasons we made colourful Autumn trees using matchsticks and tissue paper.

We also painted bright and intricate Celtic Designs.

In SPHE we discussed how we are all different but also have many things in common. The result of this work was a colourful class jigsaw showing how we all fit together!
