May Activities in 2nd & 3rd Class!

Over the past four weeks, Ms. Dawn Cobbe has been teaching the children in 2nd and 3rd class 3-4 lessons a day.  She has worked so hard and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the topics, art work, experiments and lessons covered.  Here are some photos of topics and work covered over the past few weeks…

Here are some collages of Cú Chulainn completed by the children in Visual Arts using fabric and fibre.  The children learned the story of Cú Chulainn in History.  They also created scenes in Drama in various groups.

In Geography, the children have been learning about food, where it comes from, how it’s made and the importance of farming in Ireland.  This was a really interesting topic for the children, as so many of them grow up on farms!

In Religious Education, the children wrote their own prayers, thanking God for the food, animals and earth which provides so much for us.

In Visual Arts, the children created “Shadow Pictures” depicting silhouettes of various objects.

In History, the children have been learning about the history of the Olympics in various countries, focusing on ancient Greece, the home of the Olympics.  In pairs, the children wrote out facts they learned about the lighting of the torch in Olympia.  Did you know, years ago, that women were not allowed to take part in the Olympics?

To coincide with Greece, the children studied lines and drew pictures of the Greek God Apollo.  Look at their great art work!

Thank you Ms. Cobbe for all your hard work with the children over the past number of weeks.  We wish you the very best in your teaching career!
