Fundraising Activities

We have an active Parents’ Association with 8 parents on the committee. As a school and staff we try to have a variety of fundraising activities planned for each year. They include bag-packing in a local supermarket, a sponsored cycle for children and adults, non-uniform days and other events. The senior classes enjoy organising coffee evenings and cake sales for local charities.

On Friday, 15th April, all the children in Wandesforde National School had a Non-Uniform Day in aid of Japan. The children really enjoyed wearing their own clothes to school for the day. Take a look at the style in the Junior Classroom!!

Sponsored Cycle

Date posted: 12th June 2010 | Category Blog, Fundraising Activities | Tagged , , |

We had 2 sponsored cycles for Fundraising in 2010.  On the first day, everyone in the school participated in the sponsored cycle, it was great fun and afterwards we had a barbecue in the school grounds and played football.

2 weeks later, about 40 cyclists cycled 100 km and some parents, teachers and grandparents cycled the 30 km route.

Some children and parents were at the school with sandwiches, cakes and hot food to welcome the cyclists when they had finished and cheer them on. Some parents travelled the route to stop traffic and to provide the cyclists with water and food on the route.

We are going to have another sponsored cycle next year and are looking forward to it already.
